Dairy Farmer Options to Earn from Sustainability Practices Increasing

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — A coalition of dairy industry leaders has announced a partnership with Athian to develop and deploy new sustainability protocols specifically designed for dairy operations. The partnership will expand the range of practice improvements that dairy farmers can monetise through Athian's platform, covering areas including enteric fermentation reduction, manure management, and herd efficiency.

The partnership reflects growing recognition within the dairy industry that producer economic sustainability and environmental sustainability must advance together. Athian's platform provides the verification infrastructure that allows dairy companies and their corporate customers to make credible sustainability claims tied to specific, verified farm-level improvements.

"Dairy farmers are already implementing a wide range of practices that reduce emissions and improve efficiency," said a spokesperson for one of the partner organisations. "What has been missing is a reliable, scalable mechanism to verify those improvements and connect producers with the buyers who want to fund them. Athian fills that gap."

The new protocols will be developed with input from Athian's Scientific Advisory Board and subjected to independent peer review before deployment. The partnership also includes a multi-year commitment to fund initial producer participation costs, lowering the barrier to entry for dairy operations of all sizes. Enrollment for the first cohort of dairy producers is expected to open following completion of the protocol development process.
