Athian Announces $18M in Farmer Payments for Emissions Reductions; Closes $4M Series A Round
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — Athian, Inc., the industry-led platform connecting livestock producers with sustainability funding, today announced that it has facilitated more than $18 million in payments to farmers and ranchers for verified greenhouse gas emissions reductions. The company also announced the closing of a $4 million Series A funding round to accelerate platform growth and expand its protocol library.
The $18 million in farmer payments represents verified emissions reductions across beef, dairy, and swine operations throughout North America. Payments are tied to independently verified practice improvements — including feed additive adoption, manure management upgrades, and precision nutrition programs — that have been quantified using Athian's peer-reviewed protocols.
"This milestone demonstrates that voluntary carbon and sustainability markets can deliver real, meaningful income for livestock producers," said Paul Myer, CEO and Co-Founder of Athian. "We built Athian to be the trusted bridge between producers who are doing the work and the buyers who want to fund it. $18 million in payments proves that bridge is working."
The Series A round was led by Alloy Partners, with participation from existing investors. Proceeds will be used to expand Athian's engineering team, accelerate the development of new protocols, and grow the producer network. The company also announced the appointment of several new members to its scientific advisory board, who will help guide protocol development as the platform scales.
